FASCINATING PICTURE BOOK FOR TRUE COLLECTORS

Behind Union City: The Making of an Independent Film

Stunning photographs of Pat Benatar and Deborah Harry and the making of the film Union City (1979) taken by the esteemed photographer Amos Chan.

News release: 13 July 2012

With over 200 images in colour and personal accounts by Deborah Harry, writer/director Marcus Reichert, and Amos Chan, this book is destined to become a cult classic like the film itself. It is rare that a film is documented so beautifully or so intimately. Especially fascinating are the shots of Pat Benatar in her first film role playing the part of Jeanette, of Deborah Harry acting in her first starring role, and the behind-the-scenes images of Deborah being transformed by make-up artist Richard Dean into the character Lillian. Film clips and stills from lost scenes are also included.
Format: 25 x 20 cm, 178 pages.

For Pat Benatar fans for a limited time only, Behind Union City can be ordered online directly from the London distributor's secure website for £26.00 (approx. $40.00) rather than the retail price of £36.00 ($56.00) that will be offered to the public when this offer expires on 1st August 2012. Postage and packing: UK £3.00, Europe £6.50, USA by Airmail £10.50.

Writer/Director Marcus Reichert reflects on how Pat Benatar came to be cast in Union City, her first acting role:

"I had a tip one night that there was a wild fairy-like creature belting out rock and roll in a club on the upper East Side and as soon as I saw Pat, I knew I had my Jeanette for the film."
