There's room for gig flyers, ticket stubs, etc., so if you wish to contribute,
please scan your item at 150-300dpi (for small items) or 72dpi or 75dpi

Date | Venue and Location | Comments | Event type |
Unknown | Bobern Bar & Grill New York, NY United States | Stillettoes (pre-Blondie: from August 1973 to May 1974). This was at 42 W 28th Street between Broadway and 6th Avenue. The venue was often misspelled "Boburn" and is usually called the "Boburn Tavern", such as in Making Tracks and by most authors writing about this period in Blondie's history. Chris Stein stated "i still maintain that boburn is spelled like that, yeah we all knew it was bob and ernie all along". [They were the owners]. In her book "BLONDIE, Unseen 1976-1980" (and the earlier French version), Roberta Bayley published two photographs of Debbie and Chris in front of it. In the photos on page 96, the window is decoratively painted with the lettering "BEAUBERN CAFE" and "42 WEST 28 STREET" and the awning text ("BAR & RESTAURANT") is reflected in the window. The 1974-75 Manhattan telephone directory at the New York Public Library has an entry with the correct spelling, showing the complete, accurate legal name of the establishment. Summer, 1976 | The Show Place NJ United States | A contributor wrote: "Back in the summer of 1976 I was working as the Assistant Manager at a club in North Jersey called The Show Place. I was in the DJ booth when a very nice couple(Chris and Debbie) came up to me and handed me two copies of X-Offender/In The Sun on Private Stock records. I can remember playing that 45 several times over the next few months. Actually that was the first time in public that a recording of Blondie was played in the Garden State. I can also remember playing pinball with you and Debbie when your band came back to play at the club. It was a nice experience. Since then I have played in my own band The Chillers." | appearance |

By the end of the set, I don't remember anyone not liking the group (not just because they were finished either)." (ticket stub) | Concert |

12-Aug-78 | Bilzen Rock/Jazz Festival Bilzen Belgium | This date isn't listed in Blondie's itinerary, but The Kinks archivist Doug Hinman indicates this gig with Blondie; Radio Stars; Little Bob Story; Tyla Gang; Japan; Lindisfarne (this is also supported by the "History" link on the Bilzen website which indicates the festival was August 10-13). This is the first gig of the tour, but someone who attended writes: "Blondie only played once. On the 12th. It was not a normal concert. The band was in London for an exhibition. The band flew over to Bilzen. We had a cancellation of Lou Reed, if I remember correctly. The band had no instruments here. We hired the instruments. It was a "surprise act". The band was not on the bill. This explains why the concert doesn't figure in the itineraries." Photos exist, as does the setlist: [*new*] | Concert |

It received really good reviews. But yes I confirm you that this show happened and it was very successful." (gig flyer) [*new*] | Concert |

7-Nov-78 " | Ontario Theater Washington, DC United States | An attendee writes: ""It was a weeknight, a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving. I found out about the show from an ad in the Washington Post. Heart of Glass had not been released as a single yet so Blondie was not well known at the time except in new wave circles. The Ontario was a small dumpy 1950's movie theater that had a stage. The theater is long gone now. A group called 'Baby Grand' was the opening act. They were booed loudly until the second or third song when everyone found out how good they really were. They did a version of Walk Away Renee which the crowd seemed to like. We had to stand for the whole concert because everyone else did too. And boy were they loud! Their dressing room was a trailer parked on the sidewalk in front of the theater. After the concert a couple of the band members came out of the trailer to meet fans. I got to meet a couple of them. Debbie Harry did not come out. After the concert we went to the original 930 Club, which back then was a downtown hole in the wall on F Street in DC that had a great jukebox with the likes of Iggy Pop, etc."" | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |

18-Nov-78 | Winterland San Francisco, CA United States | Also appearing: REO Speedwagon and local act "The Readymades." This was Bill Graham's premiere club for bands from 1971-1978; it held 5500 people. This show was recorded, and broadcast on December 31 (the closing night of the venue). | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |
19-Nov-78 | Coconut Grove Ballroom Santa Cruz, CA United States | with Greg Kihn. This was previously incorrectly listed as at the Santa Cruz Civic. The contributor who attended and made the correction adds: "I remember Clem standing up for a while as he played drums, and thinking it was so cool! This was right around the time Keith Moon died. Santa Cruz had a strong punk scene and many great bands." | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |
21-Nov-78 | Santa Monica Civic Auditorium Santa Monica, CA United States | An attendee of this show confirmed the date and setlist written down at the time: In The Sun, X Offender, Hanging On The Telephone, Detroit 442, Fan Mail, Picture This, 11:59, Pretty Baby, I'm Always Touched By Your Presence Dear, Sunday Girl, Denis, I'm on E, I'm Gonna Love You Too, Will Anything Happen?, Fade Away And Radiate, Heart Of Glass, I Know But I Don't Know, One Way Or Another, Youth Nabbed As Sniper; Kung Fu Girls, Bang A Gong (Get It On), Rip Her To Shreds; Heroes. 2-Dec-78 | Ukrainian Theater New York, NY United States | Blondie as part of the New Wave lineup at the Nova Convention | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |
3-Dec-78 | Irving Plaza New York, NY United States | Chris and Debbie (on drums) as part of Walter Steding's band (not a Blondie gig). This was originally listed here as a gig at "Club 57", but someone who attended said it was at Irving Plaza and *promoted* by Club 57, who apparently promoted some shows held there. This show was very late (about 2am, so technically on December 3) so they probably came on after the Ukrainian Theater gig on December 2 (both are believed to be correct). Robert Fripp played at this show. | Concert |
29-Dec-78 | Wharton, TX United States | The book, "The Year In Music: 1979" mentions this very unlikely event in a tiny town an hour outside of Houston. More info needed on this. Another contributor says "I know Circus Magazine has had erroneous Blondie tour dates in the past. Was wondering if they really did play Dallas on 12/3/78 & Wharton, TX 12/8/78. The website makes no mention of Dec 78 tour dates or Texas shows during that time. The source is Circus Magazine #201 December 5, 1978 The reason I asked is that Wharton, TX only has a population of about 10,000. The only venue there would be Wharton Community College. I grew up about 40 miles from there and could find no mention of them playing there." Consequently these entries may be erroneous and/or something possibly planned by the band that never materialized. | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |
31-Dec-78 | Winterland San Francisco, CA United States | This is included here for clarification. December 31 was the closing night of Winterland, with the Grateful Dead and the Blues Brothers playing live, also the night of the KSAN radio broadcast (mentioned in Making Tracks) of Blondie's prerecorded November 18 performance with REO Speedwagon. | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |
31-Dec-78 | Oakland Coliseum Arena Oakland, CA United States | An attendee contributes: There were three bands that night: The Baby's opened, then Blondie played, and Journey headlined. My most vivid memory of the night, aside from the show, was a huge banner that read "Blondie is a group!". | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |
2-Jan-79 | The Commodore Ballroom Vancouver, BC Canada | This date was listed on "Blondie Schedule of Engagements" and a payment was received. No venue was listed. An attendee contributed the venue and said: "Blondie headlined and the venue sold out (1000 tickets at $15). The Ramones played the same venue either the day before or the day after Blondie." | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |
3-Jan-79 | Seattle, WA United States | This date was listed on "Blondie Schedule of Engagements" but may not have occurred (no payment received). | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |
4-Jan-79 | Portland, OR United States | This date was listed on "Blondie Schedule of Engagements" but may not have occurred (no payment received). | Concert, 2nd U.S. Tour '78 |
5-Jan-79 | Port Allen, LA United States | Circus Magazine (1979 Jan 9) indicates Blondie gigs in Port Allen, LA on January 5, 6, 7, but these are not shown in the band's itinerary or on their schedule of engagements. Probably not accurate. | Concert |
19-Jan-79 | The Midnight Special United States | A Chrysalis promo item advertising 'See Blondie host The Midnight Special January 19th / "Heart of Glass" their new 12" disco single / "Paralel Lines" their new album / Chrysalis' and two fans vividly recall this broadcast, so this is very likely an accurate date for Blondie's first appearance on this show. (poster) | T.V. Show (air date) |
21-Jan-79 | The Spectrum Philadelphia, PA United States | Blondie is reported to have opened for a sold-out Rush show, but was unable to perform because of riotous fans throwing things on stage after Chris gave them the finger. An attendee confirmed Blondie left the stage before finishing their act. That account verbatim: "It was at the spectrum in philly on a cold jan. night. i was sitting on the first level with the stage to my right. There was a dance floor (standing room only on the floor ) and it was packed. Blondie came on and the Rush fans started booing. They played a song or two and then the trash started flying onto the stage. I remember one of the Blondie band members giving the finger and then the drummer kicked his drum set over and started to walk off stage, followed by the rest of the band. this is about all i remember from 27 years ago." This gig appears on the "Blondie Schedule of Engagements" and a payment was received. | Concert |
9-Mar-79 | Burt Sugarman's "Midnight Special" United States | This is listed in Chris Stein's itinerary. The show was probably taped the same day as the broadcast, and this is probably Blondie's second original appearance on the show. | T.V. Show (recording) |

The band performed the song "Underground Girl", written by Frank Infante, which remained unreleased until Chrysalis released "Blondie and Beyond" in 1993. | Concert, U.S. Tour '79 |

30-Jun-79 | Dollard des Ormeaux Civic Centre Montreal Canada | This is listed on the "Blondie Schedule of Engagements" and in the band's itinerary, but the venue isn't listed. An attendee who knew the venue said it was in a hockey rink, and the opening band was "Red." | Concert, U.S. Tour '79 |

9-Jul-79 | Wollman Rink, Central Park New York, NY United States | w/ Rockpile. This date listed on the "Blondie Schedule of Engagements" as "Great Lawn" (corrected by an attendee as "Wollman Rink"), so it probably didn't rain. At attendee adds more info about the gig: "It wasn't free. Some of the really big concerts there were free events but every summer from, I think,1969 through 1981 had a series of concerts at Wollman Rink. The big freebies were in the middle of the park. At first they were sponsored by a beer company but by the time Blondie played they were sponsored by the Dr.Pepper soda company. I do have a ticket stub but it just says the date, not the bands. They must have printed up all the tickets first and then booked the bands as they could. I believe the prices were 6 bucks for the good seats and 3 bucks for in the back! The very last Wollman Rink show was The Pretenders in 1981. After that the concerts were moved to Pier 84 near the West Side Highway due to noise complaints from people living near the park." [*new*] | Concert, U.S. Tour '79 |

11-Jul-79 | Stanley Theater Pittsburgh, PA United States | One source (perhaps an ad or a schedule) listed the opening act as Powerhouse, but an attendee with a good memory is fairly certain it was "Off Broadway". The ticket stub only lists Blondie. He adds the following details: "The show started at 8PM. Debbie was wearing matching red dress pants and red sleeveless blouse. She had red high heel shoes on. Frank was wearing an old sport coat as was Jimmy and Chris. Clem had his bulls eye t-shirt. Nigel had a tight tucked in dress shirt, polka dot I think and tight dress pants. I clearly remember this show was Wednesday July 11 because The Cars played on Friday July 13th at the same venue. Rachel Sweet from OH opened for The Cars." | Concert, U.S. Tour '79 |

The band's itinerary indicates the show was at "Clementine/Nuggets"; however this is not correct - Clementine/Nuggets is just a record store which sold tickets at that time. The FNAC is also a ticket outlet. Confusion about this date was caused by misinterpreting a Chrysalis Eat To The Beat Tour poster which reads "KCP presente Blondie Mardi 15 Janv 20H Pav De Paris. Loc: 3FNAC, Clementine, Nuggets". | Concert, European Tour 1979-'80 |

25-Jul-82 | Six Flags Over Georgia Atlanta, GA United States | The band played two full-length concerts at the amusement park. (Not two sets -- it was really the same set, repeated without variation.) The stage was set up outdoors right behind the park's biggest rollercoaster, called The Great American Scream Machine. Blondie played an afternoon concert in full daylight, and then repeated the whole show again after dark. The sunlight show was a rare treat, but their elaborate laser-light effects were not visible until the evening performance. Riders of the rollercoaster could actually catch an excerpt from a song (and get a backstage view) as the roller-cars passed behind the stage every few minutes. | Concert, Tracks Across America Tour '82 |

He said that Chris's girlfriend at the time, Ila, played bass and that they did some "strange numbers" including songs by Leonard Cohen and Harry Nilsson, a version of Heart of Glass, and that Debbie read a passage from one of Jeannette Winterson's books. On returning to New York, they recorded "Amor Fati" (one of Gary's songs from The Know), and "Studio 54" with "two of the guys from Duran Duran." A flyer exists": (gig flyer) [*new*] | Performance |
